One of the country’s leading and dynamic entrepreneurs, Dr Nighat Awan OBE career has spanned five decades including co- founding Shere Khan.
Dr Nighat Awan has taken her experiences and learning to create a legacy and inspire the next generation of young people. A true champion of diversity, with significant hands-on experience not only within business, but also assisting and mentoring young people, women, and disadvantaged groups.
Dr Awan counts four highly successful and diverse companies amongst her business achievements, encompassing fashion, floristry, food, property.
A council member of the CBI and chair of the Ethnic Minority Business Forum – North West, part of the NW Development Agency, Nighat was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2004 for her tireless work for charities and export, as well as receiving an Honorary Doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2006.
Current Patron of ‘Levelling Up: Women & Entrepreneurship’ group and more recently has been appointed charity ambassador for Radiotherapy UK.
