Sally Penni is an award-winning practicing Barrister at Law with almost 20 years of experience and a Non-Exec Director of Codethink Ltd, a fin tech company. In 2012 Sally founded Women in the Law and Business UK a non-profit professional development organisation providing mentoring and inspiring tomorrows future lawyers. Sally practices in Employment Law, Regulatory Crime and Cyber Security Law having started her law career in serious crime of young offenders and mental health. Outside of her practice, Sally is a highly accomplished and has significant Board room experience (including being a trustee of the prestigious Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester) She is a great supporter of gender diversity and Inclusion in the work place. Sally has won numerous awards including Winner of ‘Diversity Champion’ – UK Diversity Legal Awards 2015, Winner of Rising Star – HSBC Women in Business Awards, Highly Commended as Inspiring leader by HSBC National Women in Business awards 2016 and the We are the city rising star in law the special Lynn Freeman award sponsored by The Times and SundayTimes . She was named in 2017 as one of the 50 most powerful women in the North West of England by the Northern Power House and Northern power Women Awards. Sally is passionate about diversity and equality in Law and beyond, she is a mentor, supporter and Ambassador of Women on Boards UK and has been a judge of the Northern Power Women awards for the last three years in association with the Government Equalities Office. She is regularly invited to speak at events as a keynote speaker, particularly about Women and diversity in business and law. This has included speaking for the CBI, SRA and several Large organisations. She advises firms and businesses regularly on how to improve their diversity in the work place.
